Cooling lubricant for machining and Industry 4.0 fluid management
“Chips straight out of the textbook” proclaims the AMB. In addition to AMB topics such as digitalization and sustainable management, chips are still a challenge for manufacturing companies. Many things could not be manufactured without drilling, turning, milling and grinding. Despite all automation, cutting tools are the most important work equipment in metalworking. In order to make tools more and more efficient, the cutting and lubricating materials used also play a decisive role. Lubricant specialist Zeller+Gmelin has been contributing to “picture book chips” for many years with its tried and tested lubricant brands Zubora and Multicut.
Optimum cutting performance without hazard pictogram
The Zubora range from Zeller+Gmelin has been proving for years that water-miscible cooling lubricants can do without critical ingredients and mineral oil and are not at odds with maximum performance. With “Zubora TTS PF”, the lubricant experts are now presenting another high-performance cooling lubricant at AMB. It is a fully synthetic, pictogram-free cooling lubricant that, according to the manufacturer, does not contain any critical ingredients. The innovative formulation, developed in the Zeller+Gmelin laboratories, therefore meets important health, safety and environmental protection requirements. Pictogram-free products also require less effort in terms of storage and use. This also pays off economically for users in industrial machining in the long term.
Multicut cutting oils for non-ferrous metal machining
With the special NF products from the Multicut portfolio, Zeller+Gmelin has specialized in lubricants that meet the technical challenges of non-ferrous metal machining. According to the manufacturer, they are predestined for metalworking - from turning, milling and drilling to thread machining and deep hole drilling. At the same time, the experts are constantly working on increasing the efficiency, quality and sustainability of their cutting oils. They are also looking for new, sustainable formulations and are increasingly relying on modern base oils such as hydrocrack oils and resource-saving esters.
The high-performance grinding oil Multicut Grind HP 15 NF for cylindrical or profile grinding in the presence of non-ferrous metals will also be on show at the trade fair stand. In addition, the proven Multicut FSE HSC 15 NF for demanding high-speed machining and Multicut Basic HP 15 Extra NF as a cutting oil for difficult machining and Multicut Plus 10 NF as an all-rounder cutting oil for conventional, medium-duty machining tasks. According to Zeller+Gmelin, thanks to their special formulations, the cutting oils can easily cope with the special requirements of machining non-ferrous metals and at the same time deliver first-class results in terms of tool life and performance.
Smart lubricant monitoring
“We are presenting our smart lubricoolant monitoring system at AMB to show how easy it is to integrate and network such a device into production,” explains Thorsten Wechmann, Strategic Business Unit Manager at the Eislingen-based lubricant manufacturer.
As part of Industry 4.0 and the smart factory, intelligent systems independently control their own production process. The aim is to maximize operational efficiency through the most comprehensive automation possible. Fluid management should also be taken into account in automation projects in order to avoid deviations and the associated production downtimes. The fluid management system can be used to automatically monitor, organize and control the supply of cooling lubricant to machines and systems. The smart “ZG Fluid-Check Pro” device, developed in collaboration with HYDAC, monitors the fill level and measures the concentration, pH value, conductivity and temperature in real time. According to Zeller+Gmelin, up to four additional values such as nitrite or the proportion of tramp oil, for example, can also be entered manually. In the event of deviations from the target concentration, readjustments are made automatically. “Our fluid management system permanently records the emulsion status so that traceability is also guaranteed,” says Thorsten Wechmann.
