Ring mode lasers are promising tools for battery and fuel cell manufacturing. Depending on the power distribution between the ring and the center, they can increase penetration depth or reduce spatter. However, most scanning solutions don't achieve the required small spot sizes in working fields of 300 x 300 mm² or larger. This limits the application of the ring shape for welding applications e.g., of bipolar plates.
