The planning for R+T is also almost complete at Somfy - because it's finally starting soon! Francesco Franchini, Head of the Somfy Central Europe division and Managing Director of Somfy Germany, and the entire Somfy team are looking forward to the world's leading trade fair for roller shutters, doors and sun protection systems opening its doors soon. In advance, he gave us an insight into what we can look forward to in Hall 5 at Stand A32!
What does this year's R+T mean for Somfy?
Francesco Franchini: This year's R+T is an important cornerstone for our industry: The unusual and artificial post-Covid boom, followed by a supply chain crisis, and global energy and political instability are setting the stage for a new property crisis and a "new normal" of uncertainty and concern. Hovering over all of this is a climate emergency that can no longer be ignored and that we must all play our part in addressing.
How is Somfy responding to these challenges?
Francesco Franchini: Somfy is facing up to these key challenges with its proven innovative strength and comprehensive technical expertise. Our solutions make solar shading smart and sustainable by contributing to significant energy savings in summer and winter and improving thermal comfort: Automated solar shading can reduce the room temperature by up to seven degrees during the increasing summer heatwaves and utilise the solar yield as natural additional heating in winter. In total, this saves twice as much CO2 as is generated during production and operation.
Comfort and the reduction of energy consumption go hand in hand - a key message that is not yet fully understood by our institutions, legislators and consumers. This makes it all the more important to further emphasise the importance and role of our industry in the energy crisis. This is why the potential of the solutions developed by Somfy to protect the planet is also the leitmotif of our trade fair presence.

Francesco Franchini: There are many good reasons to visit us and immerse yourself in the future with us: Experience the full range of our latest innovations in solar technology and energy efficiency, a new product range for interior sun shading, an installation-friendly lighting and control system for outdoors and smart solutions for intelligent building control.
