Somfy at R+T 2024 - Focus on thermal comfort and energy efficiency
Driving innovations, exploiting potential: Somfy, the drive and control system specialist, will present customised product solutions relating to smart sun shading systems and networked living on an area of 840 square metres during R+T 2024. In addition to a new generation of io wall-mounted radio transmitters with integrated temperature sensors and the RS100 Solar io roller shutter solar drive system, these product solutions will include an easy-to-install lighting and control system for the outdoor area. Marketing Manager Joachim Wallenstein provided us with some deeper insights into what we can look forward to on Stand A32 in Hall 5.
Sustainability is the leitmotif of R+T. And of Somfy too?
Joachim Wallenstein: Offering intelligent and sustainable answers to the challenges posed by climate change is basically a key brand promise by Somfy. Whether during a heat wave in summer or a cold snap in winter, automated sun shading system solutions ultimately ensure natural climate control of residential and non-residential buildings the whole year round, and therefore save twice as much CO₂ as they consume during their production and when in operation.
What contribution is made here by your products?
Joachim Wallenstein: Our products make a very large contribution since sun shading product solutions only develop their full energy saving potential with an intelligent control system. The solar yields can be used in winter as additional natural heating while living areas remain pleasantly cool in summer.
Can you tell us anything else about other product highlights?
Joachim Wallenstein: We will present RS100 Solar io, a straightforward and easy-to-retrofit plug and play drive system in a market segment offering attractive growth opportunities. This super silent smart home-ready drive system draws its energy from an efficient solar panel. The solar panel can be fully assembled and put into service outdoors without any additional coordination with an electrician – that's an enormous advantage in view of the shortage of specialists. In addition to the well-known advantages of the RS100 Series such as automated end position setting, torque detection, integrated speed regulation and the material-friendly soft start and soft stop functions, the solar panel in the new Somfy solution can also be used simultaneously as a sun sensor in conjunction with the TaHoma Switch. RS100 Solar io is suitable for all types of roller shutters up to 20 Nm and can be networked via the TaHoma Switch with up to 200 other smart home-ready products for individual living scenarios. Another advantage is a 7-year manufacturer's guarantee. Autarchy and reliability are guaranteed – the battery life is 45 days even with absolute darkness. A very successful solution which will undoubtedly impress trade visitors!
And what innovations will you present for the outdoor area?
Joachim Wallenstein: Somfy also systematically focuses on ease of installation and compatibility in the outdoor area. The new radio light receiver LED TUBELITE White Receiver io for installation in awning rollers and the LED Receiver io W for slatted roofs, terrace roofs and pergolas feature an integrated power pack and an io radio receiver for convenient switching on and off, and for dimming of monochrome, white 24V LED terrace lights. Thanks to the io radio protocol, all terrace applications can be flexibly interconnected and controlled by means of a hands-on remote control, a voice assistant system or automated TaHoma scenario functions. Time spent outdoors can therefore be enjoyed to the full.
